Building a Monument to First Responders

Caissons poured!

There was lots of activity at the Monument site yesterday! Ozinga again generously donated the concrete and the Oak Lawn Park District workers provided the labor to successfully pour the last two caissons. These will support the vertical WTC steel once they cure. The concrete needs to cure for ten days and your Monumental Team can hardly wait to get everything on site.

Behind the scenes, Oak Lawn Public Works will be coating the steel with a substance that will seal and protect the beams. This will be done in preparation for their final installation.
