Building a Monument to First Responders

The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn to add a new layer of meaning to Patriot Station

The Oak Lawn Rotary Club’s 9/11 First Responder Memorial is the centerpiece of Oak Lawn’s new Patriot Station. Situated adjacent to the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn, over 70,000 children pass the Memorial on their way to a day of fun and exploration with their families.

It’s a stroke of genius that the Museum wants to bring the discussion inside with a “We The People” exhibit which will incorporate artifacts from the World Trade Center that were not usable in the Memorial.

To help support the construction of the exhibit, the Museum is having a Stars and Stripes Gala at the Oak Lawn Hilton on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Tickets can be obtained by calling Bernadette at (708) 423-6709 x 204.

The Children’s Museum will honor our First Responders at this event, as well as Mr. Jerry Hurckes. Supporting this event by attending or giving a raffle prize will help our children learn how Americans come together to support and help each other.

Construction is ready to resume on April 15th at the Memorial.
